Cage, John Andrew Age 32, died in Dallas on September 4, 2013 after a 13 month struggle with complications from West Nile Virus. He was born in Dallas on July 10, 1981 and lived near White Rock Lake. John attended St. Thomas Aquinas Elementary School and graduated from Jesuit College Preparatory School, class of 1999. He graduated from The University of Texas, School of Architecture in 2006 and moved back to Dallas. John met his wife Monika in college and after a long relationship they were married in 2010. After working for HKS Architects for three and a half years, he joined the Whole Earth Provision Company, which became an extension of his family and lifestyle and was much more than a job. He was a creative soul, with a love for design, cooking, camping, woodworking and many other pursuits. He is survived by his wife, Monika Eberhard Cage; his parents, Harlan Wayne Cage and Patricia Boriskie Cage; in-laws, Deiter and Anna Eberhard; aunts, Linda Boriskie, Diane Murphy, Nita Cage; aunt and uncle, James and Kay Cage; uncle, Richard Seman; godfather, Lewis Hussing; and many, many cousins and dear friends. John's family is very grateful for the extraordinary healing efforts of Doctors Hospital at White Rock Lake, particularly the ICU staff where he spent so much of his time in 2012. We are also thankful to the staff of Baylor Institute of Rehabilitation for their physical therapy and helpful counsel. Special acknowledgement is given to the Adaptive Rowing Classes at the White Rock Boathouse, Inc. A memorial celebration remembrance of John's life will be held at the Filter Building at White Rock Lake at 6 PM on Sunday, September 15, 2013. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in John's name to Adaptive Rowing, White Rock Boathouse, Inc., PO Box 140935, Dallas TX 75214, or to the Trinity River Audubon Center, www.trinityriveraudubon.org

Just learned about John's illness and passing. What a shock! My deepest sympathy. John was a great student and as manyy have stated a wonderful artist. I remember his cell drawings as well as others in science. I taught John at STA as his middle school science teacher.

I also was a classmate of John's at St Thomas Aquinas. I remember his blonde curly hair and smile. I loved to sit next to him and watch him draw. He was so talented. I am saddened that I didn't get to know the adult he became. Clearly he touched many people with his unique character, thoughtfulness, sensitivity, and loving nature. I just can't believe he is gone. My thoughts and prayers are with his parents, his wife, and anyone else whose life he touched. Rest in peace John.

Johnny was an amazing person. I only knew him a short time while working together at Whole Earth, but I an privileged to have had that opportunity. I still have some CD's that he made for me and will think of him when I play. He was so kind and generous and he will be GREATLY missed by all. My thoughts and prayers are with Monika and the rest of his family always. See you in heaven Johnny.

I was so shocked and saddened to hear of John's passing. He was one of my early friends. I remember getting sent into the hallway out of Mrs. Pierce's class together in 2nd grade, for goofing off too much and I have fond memories of being "mallrats" together in 8th grade. The John I knew was witty, creative and unique. I imagine he turned out to be a pretty great person, and I wish I'd known him as an adult. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.
