Ralph Michael Alliegro, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and dear friend of many, passed away in Morristown, N.J. on Sept. 12, 2013. Viewing will be held at Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home, 7 Two Bridges Rd., Fairfield, N.J. Viewing is on Saturday from 2 to 6 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by a luncheon celebrating his life. Ralph was born on June 4, 1930, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Nicholas and Amelia Alliegro. He graduated from Bergenfield, N.J., High School in 1948 and enlisted in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. After completing four years of active service as an air traffic controller, he joined his father's company, Union Canvas Products of Carlstadt, N.J. Together, they built the business into one of the leading canvas products company in the country. Upon his father's retirement in 1970, Ralph became owner/manager of the company until his own retirement in 2001. After his retirement, Ralph and Joanie, his wife and love of his life, traveled extensively, enjoying their home in Florida in the winter and home in Montville, N.J., in the summer. Ralph loved his grandchildren and they him; he was affectionately known as "Frampa Frampa" to Jake, Gavin, and Cole. Ralph was a very active member of the North Jersey Whiz Skiers who had a lodge at Mad River Glen, Vt. Through his love of skiing and golf, Ralph made lifelong friends that enjoyed those passions with him throughout the years. Ralph was also passionate about flying, owning two planes, and logging several thousand hours flying and sharing that love with his son, Michael. In passing, Ralph is survived by his wife, Joan; his son, Michael Alliegro; daughter in-law, Elaine (Leadbeater), and three grandchildren, Jake, Gavin, and Cole. He was predeceased by his parents, Nicholas and Amelia Alliegro, and his sister, Rita Baker (Alliegro). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kan. 66675.

Farewell to a special friend. We have so many fond memories od Ralph-- ski club functions, golf dinners, New Years eves, shows in NY, dinner nights and times spent together in Florida. Also golf and lunch with the guys will never be forgotten. His smile and happy personality will remain in our hearts forever. We will miss you. Rest in peace Ralph. Until we meet again. Joan, Richie and I only knew you and Ralph a few years but our times together were always a lot of fun . Ralph was always smiling and fun to be with. He will be missed. Our love to you and family.
