CARLSON
Arthur B., Sr., 88, of Red Bank, formerly of Saddle Brook, passed away on Thursday, September 26th. Arthur was born on January 5, 1925 in Manhattan, NY, to Edward and Margaret (Allen) Carlson.
Arthur was a proud U.S. Marine Corps veteran, serving during WW II. He was a retired NYC Police Department Detective and also retired from the Bergen County Prosecutor's office, where he worked as an investigator.
Arthur was a loving husband, devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather, completely committed to his family. He was always engaged in life, discussing current events, sports, ideas and movies. Arthur had a lifetime love of the ocean and was an avid reader who often visited his local library. He was also intrigued by new technology and enjoyed using his Kindle even in his late 80's.
Arthur was predeceased by his parents and his beloved wife of 58 years, Joan M. (Cowan) Carlson, his brothers, Edward, Walter, and Robert and his sister Kathleen. Arthur is survived by his loving children, Margaret Galiani and her husband Joshua of Fairfield, CT, Arthur B. Carlson Jr. and his wife Madelaine of Hawthorne, Brian C. Carlson and his wife Donna of Lake Mohawk, Terence W. Carlson of Washington, D.C., and Thomas E. Carlson and his wife Eva of Middletown. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Kathryn Steiner, Elizabeth and Margaret Galiani, Matthew, Megan, Caleigh, Brendan, Kate, Alex-ander and Ian Carlson, along with his adored great-grand-daughter, Heidi Steiner. He is also survived by his loving nephews and nieces, grand- nephews and grandnieces.
Family and friends are in-vited to visit on Sunday, September 29th from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM and Monday morning, September 30th from 9:45 to 10:30 AM at the Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 3269 State Rt. 35 N., Hazlet. Mass of Christian Burial, Monday, September 30th, St. James R.C. Church, Red Bank, 11:15 AM. Interment, Mount Olivet Cemetery, Mid-dletown/Red Bank.
