Jane (McKenne) Hindes, 75, of Vernon, beloved wife of 54 years to William P. Hindes, passed peacefully at her home on Sunday, Nov. 17, 2013, with her family at her side.
Born in Melrose, Mass., the daughter of the late Frederick and Faith (Collins) McKenne, she grew up and lived in Melrose before moving to Vernon 45 years ago. She was a graduate of Melrose High School, Class of 1956. She was an avid reader and a longtime volunteer at Nora's Place in Rockville. Jane was a paraprofessional for many years at Northeast School in Vernon. She was a kind and loving person who always put others before herself.
In addition to her loving husband, she is survived by her sister, Anne Ashford, and her husband, Jonathon, of Concord, Mass.; two nieces, Sarah Eby of Rochester, Mass., and Amy Tetrault of Acton, Mass.; a great-niece, Taylor Faith Bill; a great-nephew, Matthew Leron Eby; and numerous dear friends.
Her family will receive friends for memorial calling hours on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Ladd Funeral Home, 19 Ellington Ave., Rockville, with a memorial service at the funeral home beginning at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Valley Falls Cemetery, Vernon.
