ROBERTA E. SPRINGER, 87, formerly of Ossian, passed away on Friday, Nov. 22, 2013. Born June 10, 1926, in Omaha, Neb., she was a daughter of the late Robert and Mary (Chizek) Stella. She graduated from Indiana University, Bloomington, with a degree in Education. She was a homemaker and co-owner / co-operator of Springer Orchard. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church. She was a former volunteer at Lutheran Hospital and enjoyed spending her time creating crafts, reading, and going to her grandchildren's activities. She was also very proud to have donated over eight gallons of blood to the American Red Cross. Surviving family include her daughters, Carla (Bill) Scott of Fort Wayne and Mariann (Chris) Jones of Sunnyvale, Calif.; sons, Branch (Jackie) Springer of Perrysburg, Ohio, Jay (Rebecca) Springer of Munroe Falls, Ohio and Randy (Renee) Springer of Fort Wayne; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one niece; and two great nieces. She was also preceded in passing by her husband, Raymond C. Springer, in 2008; a brother, Robert Stella; and a niece. Funeral service is 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 1, 2013, at Peace Lutheran Church, 4900 Fairfield Ave., Fort Wayne, with visitation one hour prior. Visitation also from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013, at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Home for Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Road, Fort Wayne. Burial in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Ossian.
