Gartleman, Stanley D., 61, US Marine Veteran and retired Reno CO firefighter, died Dec. 31st, 2013. Stan was honest to a fault and very loyal to the flag and his Country. After serving two enlistments in the Marines and seven years in the National Guard, he joined the Reno County Fire Department where he later retired. Stan had many aspirations; one of them was building a fire house museum. His owned his own fire truck, getting him closer to his goal. He also had a strong interest in railroading and could answer any questions about either of his interests. He lived his life for Christ and volunteered to help anyone in need. Most recently he enjoyed his volunteer position for the Red Cross where he traveled across Kansas for pickup and delivery as needed. He is survived by his father, Phillip, brother, Jim, and half-siblings Matt, Ted, Renee, and Gladys. Funeral Service will be held 1:00 p.m. Fri. Jan. 10th at Winfield Veterans' Cemetery.

Tho I had not met Stan (Dee) I had become very close to him over the past year (via cell phone and texting). He was very sweet and it saddens me that I didn't get to meet such a nice, gentle man.
