Goosby, Caparnie "Kay" (Jones) Age 77, made her peaceful transition on December 9, 2014 after a short illness. She was born March 27, 1937 to Eddie and Equiller Jones who both preceded her in death. Kay was the oldest of five children. She accepted Christ at an early age at Van Buren Baptist Church. Kay attended and graduated with honors from Gary Roosevelt High School. Kay attended Purdue University Calumet. She married Donald Goosby in 1956 and to this union two children were born. Throughout her life, Kay worked various positions with Bare Brand Hosiery, Garnett Elementary School, Attorney Fred Work, and Trump Casino. Kay was proud to serve as Union Steward at Lever Brothers. Inc from where she retired in 1994. Kay's devotion to her family and friends was amazing; her unconditional love was heartfelt. She was an awesome mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother; loving and nurturing. This love was not only applied to her own children, but the children of her friends and neighbors. Kay was an expert seamstress and helped or assisted many people with her gift. Among her many talents, she was an avid bowler, holding numerous leadership roles and positions in various leagues, such as president, secretary and treasurer in the Friday Night Mix, and the Dunes Senior League. She served as Little League president, Boys Scouts of America troop leader, and a faithful member of the Roosevelt Alumni Class of 1955, serving as the presiding alumni class president until her death. With her loving and giving spirit, she often helped many in need and if you needed her she was there. Kay was preceded in death by her parents, Eddie and Equiller Jones; brother, Eddie Roy Jones; sister, Rosalind Sellers. She leaves to cherish her memory; a devoted daughter, Sheila Walker of Merrillville, Indiana; a loving son, Darryl Goosby of Atlanta, Georgia; grandchildren, Courtney (Willie) Washington of Indianapolis, Indiana, Kara Walker of Merrillville, Kamryn (Ciara) Goosby, San Diego, CA and Joshua Goosby, Doraville, Georgia; two great-grandsons who she adored, Jabriel and Aiden; brother, Charles "Pal" Jones; sister, Mary Louise (Frank) Bedford of Gary, Indiana; five great-uncles and two great-aunts; a host of other loving nieces, nephews, relatives and many special friends. Goosby and Daryl,
So sorry to hear about your mom. She was great and could really bowl, as we all know.
In high school she once made my Sweetheart Ball outfit, I was the sharpest thing there.
She is now with God and my mom as well. May God Continue to Bless and Keep you and your families during this time and always.
Love you

Dear Sheila and Family, Following is my expression for Families during the loss of love ones. Kay and I were friends since the 7th grade! We talked for hours the evening before you came to check on her. She talked with love about 'her family' which she loved so much:
"The Broken Chain"
When death takes a Loved One it hurts - Your family chain has been broken! It hurts a little less with time and one morning you will wake up and your loss is not the first thing you think about … it's at that point you realize that your Loved One's peaceful memories and love are still with you. Though your family chain has been broken, always remember – as God calls us one by one, your Family Chain will link again! Prayerfully, each of us will one day be able to repeat this part of one of Apostles Paul's great statements:
'I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day – and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for His appearing.' II Timothy 4:7-8 NIV
May God continue to Bless and Keep each of you. Your Mom is with Jesus and it's my prayer, each of you will always remember - I love you but -- God loves you BEST.
