Carl Johnson Obituary

Carl Rueben Johnson

April 23, 1928 - Nov. 23, 2014

Carl Reuben Johnson, age 86, of Redwood City, California went to be with his beloved Lord on Sunday morning, November 23, 2014. Carl was born April 23, 1928 to Reuben and Ida Johnson in Chicago, Illinois, the oldest of 3 children and a twin. He graduated from Northwestern University. He met his beautiful wife, Mildred Marie Haglund in high school and married her in March 1951.
The foundation of Carl's life was his faith in Jesus Christ. He was saved at a young age and his passion for Christ continued to his final days. After his career in finance ended, he began working at Kainos Home and Training Center in Redwood City. He loved his work there, investing his life into the lives of the disabled adults who live there. He was a counselor there for many years until his retirement in 2004. His free time was spent reading his Bible, attended church at Peninsula Covenant Church and spending time with family and friends. He had a great sense of humor and told wonderful stories. He knew how to love and be loved. Carl is survived by his 4 children Gayle Johnson of San Carlos; Rick and (Carol) Johnson of Concord; Tom and (Marlene) Johnson of Redwood City; Sue and (Greg) Kopchinski of Brentwood; 5 grandchildren Scott and (Amanda) Johnson, Krista and (Tim) Slack, Natalie Johnson, Samantha Johnson, Timothy Johnson; 3 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law and other loving nephews and nieces. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Kainos at kainosusa.org or to Peninsula Covenant Church. Please sign the guestbook at www.crippenflynn.com
