George Buskirk Obituary

George Tim Buskirk, 67, of Lincoln, ME formerly of Bellingham, MA, passed away at home on Monday, March 23, 2015. He was the beloved husband of Diane J. (Masse) Buskirk. Born in Willimantic, CT on January 10, 1948, he was the son of the late George F. Buskirk and Minnie (Labar) Dandeneau. He was the loving father of Timothy G. Buskirk and his wife, Selina of Douglas, MA, Douglas J. McKenna, Timothy P. McKenna, James P. Buskirk and Caroline L. Buskirk, and his cherished 13 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He leaves his sister Deborah Perkins of Florida. A resident of Maine for 14 years formerly of Bellingham, Tim was a graduate of Bellingham High School Class of 1966. He worked in plumbing, and served on the Bellingham Fire Department. Tim began his career in Law Enforcement for the town of Blackstone, and was one of the first of the original four Blackstone Police Officers. He joined the Bellingham Police Department in 1973 and served for 29 years retiring in 2002 as a Detective Sergeant. He served as a Firearms Instructor, a Court Officer and was part of the Project Harmony International Law Enforcement Exchange Program in 1997. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, nature and served as a Maine Hunting and Fishing Guide. He was a true sports enthusiast. Tim loved his wife and family and will be greatly missed. He was a United States Navy Vietnam War Era Veteran attaining the rank of E-4. Also, he was a Mason and a member and Past President of the Bellingham Lions Club. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, March 30th at 10:00AM at Cartier's Funeral Home, 151 So. Main St. (Rte 126), Bellingham, MA. Visiting hours are on Sunday, March 29th from 1 to 4PM. I had not seen Tim for over 30 years, however, I have fond memories of being his classmate and friend. He was a really good man and I am sure he is missed by not only his family but also all who had the honor of knowing him.
