Malinda, Dennis, Cynthia and family;
I am sorry to hear of the passing of your father. Please take comfort in the knowledge that his life made a positive impact on those he encountered along the way. I can remember him from the days your family lived across the street from ours. I remember like it was yesterday pulling up to the Marathon gas station on Cliff Street on my Schwinn needing some air in my tires. After careful instruction from Mr. Barnes on the use of the air pump, including putting the hose back on the rack, we engaged in a little small talk as he filled a customer's gas tank. I remember thinking I would like to own a filling station when I grew up, just like him. Years later, we got reacquainted when I became a mail man in Urbandale, and there he was, offering his services to the residents of that area. I will always remember your father as a strong man, who had a lot of self-confidence that enabled him to succeed in business and provide for his family. My he rest in peace.
