Thomas H. O'Brien, 90, of Chatham, New Jersey, died at the age of 90 on April 22, 2015 surrounded by family. Beloved son, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to all, he was born in Hamden, CT, son of the late Thomas C. and Edna O'Brien. His wife, Mary Ann Kachinski O'Brien, his youngest daughter, Marianne O'Brien Stiansen (Stephen), his brother, Jack O'Brien, and his sister, Doris preceded him in death. He is survived by his three remaining children Thomas H. O'Brien, Jr. and wife Sally, Diane O'Brien Vaglio and husband Nicholas, Michael P. O'Brien and wife Mariel. Also survived by his by 10 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, two step grandchildren, six step great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Tom served his country during World War II as a member of the United States Air Force. He graduated with a B.A. degree in Economics from Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT, and did post-graduate studies at New York University's Stern School of Business and Columbia University. He was also a faculty member at the American Institute of Banking and Hofstra University, where he was also a trustee. During his six decades in the financial services industry, with a particular expertise in public utility finance, he was associated with Chase Manhattan Bank, Lehman Brothers, Citibank, Long Island Lighting Company, Jamaica Water Supply Company and his own consulting company, O'Brien Associates. During that time he also served as a director and trustee for numerous companies and organizations. The O'Brien family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the special caregivers of Visiting Angels of Suburban Essex and our friends at Juniper Village in Chatham. Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 26, 2015 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Gallaway & Crane, 101 S. Finley Avenue, Basking Ridge, NJ. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held on Monday, April 27 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 111 Claremont Road, Bernardsville, New Jersey.
