Bob's memorial service was PERFECT. What an incredible tribute to a great man. The feeling walking in to that chapel over flowing with people who loved him was overwhelming. John and Jason told such touching and humorous (of course) stories and memories of their dad that we were all laughing as well as crying. It was really nice to hear of the early years from his sister Kathy. The photos were fun and I enjoyed "strolling down memory lane". The flowers were gorgeous and the food was "to die for" (love you Bob). The procession to Willamette National Cemetery led by the Freedom Riders was AWESOME. I can't even begin to put in to words how I felt at the Full Military Graveside Service ... what honor and gratitude was shown for his service to this country. As we ended, Steven gave a wonderful grave dedication for the final resting place of a man who was loved and admired by so many. I know Bob was there loving every minute of it -- What a beautiful celebration of his life To Char, Stacy, John (Heather, JR, Jackson) Jason (Rebecca, Taylor, James, Lily) and all his family and friends who will miss him ... I send my LOVE

To Bob's family, I remember our years in Pullman with our families bunking out in our apartment while we prepared for our games on Saturday. Lots of fun and many memories we still talk about. Our condolences to the family.

I met Bob in the Navy aboard the DJ Buckley in 1965 in San Diego. It was my first (and only) ship assignment. He took me under his wing, helping me to adjust to sea duty. We maintained radar equipment together for about two years. He was an outstanding, generous person the entire time we served. It was great seeing him at the VA Beach reunion, along with John and Jason. My condolences and prayers. He will be missed.

I've known and worked with Bob these past five years in the search for shipmates who served aboard the USS Dennis J Buckley (DD/DDR-808). It has been an honor to know Bob for his service in the Navy, his continued service in finding missing shipmates, and to call him Friend.
