Kalister Family Obituary

Dr. Joseph Richard "Rick" Kalister, 56, along with his wife, Betty Hall Kalister, 52, and his youngest daughter, Nicole Marie Kalister, 18 passed away June 28, 2015 in a tragic private plane crash.
Rick a United States Air Force pilot for 8 years, was stationed at Holloman AFB and was an F-15 pilot. While stationed at Holloman and Alamogordo, Rick met Betty Hall. They were later married at the Chapel at the Sacramento Methodist Assembly near Weed. Betty's grandfather, Rev. Bryan Hall, her Dad, Cliff Hall, and his brother Ivan helped build that Chapel.
Rick earned his undergraduate degree from East Texas State University and graduated from medical school at Texas A& M University in Fort Worth. For over 13 years he served as the Medical Director of the Emergency Department at Starr Medical Center in Athens, Tennessee. He was also the recipient of Medical Director of the year in 2009. He was very active with the McMinn County Sherriff's Department; he served as an honorary deputy as well as the Swat team's medic. Rick had an amazing sense of humor. He was an incredibly loving husband and father, as well as a humble, talented, respected physician and a wonderful friend.

Betty Hall Kalister, 52, graduated from Alamogordo High School and is a former Miss Otero County Pageant Winner. She graduated from University of Texas with a degree in international business. Betty had a passion for computing, technology and web design. She was active in the yoga community, teaching at several different studios in Knoxville as well as schools. Betty was hugely involved with the Farragut schools. She helped organize the festivities at her daughter Nicole's recent Farragut High School Graduation Celebration. Most of all, Betty was a Mom. She and Rick raised two beautiful intelligent daughters.

Nicole Marie Kalister
Nicole graduated from Farragut High School in May 2015. Nickie was excited to start her collegiate life and was enrolled this fall at Northeastern University in Boston. She was planning to study communications and media/screen studies. She was passionately interested in film, music, and theater, and, like her parents, she always had a joke to tell.

The family asks in lieu of flowers, memorial gifts be made to The Nicole Kalister Scholarship fund. In her memory we would like to help other students have a college opportunity. www.gofundme.com/nicolekalister or checks can be written to Farragut High School (note for: Nicole Kalister Foundation)

Rick and Betty are survived by their older daughter, Jackie Kalister, 23.

Rick is survived by: father, Joseph Kalister Sr, brother, Eric, sister, Susan, and sister, Charmaine.
Betty is survived by her sister, Jennifer Hall, her mother, Susie Hall, grandmother, Jennell Stephens, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

The Fourth of July has always been a day of importance for the Kalister Family. They always celebrated with a great number of friends and loads of fireworks! It is only fitting to see them off on this day.

Family will receive friends from 2:00 pm at The Shed behind Two Rivers Church 275 Harrison Lane Lenoir City, TN 37772.
