George D. Imhoff, 88, of Algonquin, passed away surrounded by his loving family July 3, 2015. He was born December 21, 1926, in Troy Township, Iowa to the late Henry and Ella (Austin) Imhoff.
After attending high school, George enlisted in the United States Navy and is a WW II Veteran, having served on the USS Mustin. On March 6, 1948 he married his sweetheart Betty Jane Tilche in Ontarioville, IL. George was self-employed as a carpenter and co-owner of S & I Construction Company until 1963, when he founded Imhoff Construction which he operated for nearly 50 years. He was also a member of the Local #2087 Carpenter's Union.
He was also very active in community activities which include being a lifetime member of the American Legion, past president of the Algonquin Lions Club, Trustee of the Congregational Church of Algonquin, which he and his wife had been a member of for over 60 years and he was a founding member of Algonquin Founder's Days. George's interests were his business and his horses but his true passion was for his family.
George was the beloved husband of Betty Jane Imhoff (nee Tilche). Beloved father of Don (Carol), Cindi, and Randy (Toni) Imhoff. Fond grandfather of Greg (Katie) Imhoff, Zach (Susie) Imhoff, Amy (Joe) Fujino, Michael Imhoff, Lindsey (Mark) Hartwig, and Lauren Spitznas. Great Grandfather of Makena, Alyvia, Dean, Luke, Jake, Nattily, Laeden, Zoe, and Klare. Dear brother of Ben (Kathleen) Imhoff , Genieve (Bob) Engelbrecht. Fond uncle of many nieces and nephews.
George was preceded in death by his son, Bradley; granddaughter, Kari (Bob) Crewe; great grandson, Zane Spitznas; brothers, Russell (Arliss) Imhoff, Julian (Pat) Imhoff; sisters, Flora (Kenneth) Coon, and Vernie (Neil) McManaman.

A visitation will be held Tuesday, July 7, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Willow Funeral Home & Cremation Care, 1415 W Algonquin Rd, Algonquin/Lake in the Hills. (One mile east of Randall Rd) with a funeral service to follow Wednesday, July 8, at 11:00 a.m. at The Congregational Church of Algonquin, 109 Washington St. Interment at Algonquin Cemetery.

Mr. Imhoff, as I knew him, was a true gentleman. He was truly devoted to his family, his business, and his church. He was an instrumental volunteer, in the late 1950s and 1960s, in the construction of the building addition to the Congregational Church of Algonquin IL. He will certainly be missed!

Betty, Don, Cindy, and Randy, I'm so sorry for your loss. The Imhoff family was a big part of my early life and I always thought of all of you as part of my extended family. George was a great man who will be truly missed by everyone who knew him.
