HARTLY - Roger Dwight Jarvis passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on July 29, 2015. Mr. Jarvis was born July 14, 1947 in Dover, OH, the son of the late Lt. Col. Harold and Dorothy Jarvis. Mr. Jarvis served his country with honor, retiring from the U.S. Air Force after 28 & ½ years. During his career with the U. S. Air Force he served in Vietnam during the Vietnam War and Desert Storm. After retirement, Roger owned his own trucking business. Roger was a member of the VFW, AFSA, North America Motorcycle Club, Moose Riders, Handyman Club of America, North American Hunters Club, North American Fishing Club, 20th MAS Alumni and the DAV. Roger enjoyed working on British Sports Cars. He collected motorcycles and liked to ride. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robin Jarvis. He is survived by his loving wife, Linda; his sons, Tobin D. Jarvis and Ryan D. Jarvis; his daughter, Brittney N. Jarvis; step-daughters, Roxanna M. Parish and her husband Bill of Camden, DE, Peggy S. Mitchell and her husband Mitch of Wilmington, DE, LeaDeana K. Cales of WV and Victoria L. Holderman and her husband Damien of Hartly, DE; a step-son, Kermit Keith Cales and his wife Debbie of FL; 17 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; his dear friends, Paul Couture and his wife Maryann, and Jim Denny and his wife Patty; and many other close friends. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, August 4, 2015 from 11 am to 1 pm in the Faries Funeral Chapel, located at 29 S. Main St. in Smyrna. Funeral services will begin at 1 pm. Burial will be privately held at a later date. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff of Delaware Hospice for the excellent care and support that they provided. Roger was a great instructor, and was always on top of any situation. He helped to form my early flying career. May you rest in peace Roger, while we wait to be called by our Father in Heaven.
