James D. ‘J.D.’ Conway, 66 of Smackover, AR; died on July 29, 2015 at the VA hospital in Houston, TX. Born on February 27, 1949 in El Dorado; he was the son of Clyde “Frog’ Conway and Willie Mae Holt Conway.
J.D. was a heavy equipment operator for Langley Oil Co. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with family and grandchildren. J.D. served in the Navy on the USS Chicago during the Vietnam War. J.D. was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Billy, Clyde Jr, Jerry, K.O. and John Conway and his sisters Betty Eubanks and Joyce Griffith.
Survivors are his wife Dianne Newman Conway of Smackover; a daughter Shannon Conway of Conway AR ; brothers Rev Thomas ‘T.J’ Conway of Vass, NC, Dan Conway of El Dorado, Stanley Conway and Charles Conway of Smackover, sisters Dorothy Williams of Stephens, Karolyn Farnell and Brenda Smith of Sheridan and 7 grandchildren Deric Conway, Candace Conway, Jalen Tate, Kyran Tate, Jarvis Purifoy, Abby Conway and Chase Conway and 3 great grandchildren Kaye'Dence, Alayah and Miriah; along with a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 2 pm, Sunday, August 2, 2015 in the chapel of Youngs Funeral Directors with Bro. Robert Thornton officiating. Interment will follow at Crossroads Baptist Church Cemetery near Smackover.
The family will receive friends Saturday afternoon from noon to 4 pm at ‘The Gathering Place’ in Smackover for a going home party and Sunday from noon until service time at Youngs.
