Dr. James J. Klubnik
1935-2015
On Sunday, August 23, Dr. Jim Klubnik entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Jim was born in Los Angeles, California, and trusted Christ at age 17. He attended Bellflower High School and Long Beach City College. At UCLA he sang in an award-winning SAE quartet. He and his wife, Peggi, met at a Campus Crusade for Christ meeting, and were married in 1959 at Berachah Church in Houston.
Jim was a pastor for over thirty years, including nine years as Minister of Youth at the Church of the Open Door in Los Angeles, pastored by Dr. J. Vernon McGee. He also served as pastor of Grace Bible Church in Houston and Minnetex Community Church, then serving as an interim pastor for 13 years in five different churches.
Jim hosted the weekly live, call-in Questions and Answers program on KHCB 105.7 FM for over 40 years. He also broadcast a Sunday morning Bible study for several years. From 1979 to 2013, Jim served as an adjunct professor at the College of Biblical Studies. He also taught several small group Bible studies in the Houston area.
In 1984, Jim and Peggi began a ministry behind the Iron Curtain at the invitation of Campus Crusade for Christ and Eastern European Seminary. Being of Russian dissent, his desire was to minister in the Soviet Union. In 1990, he began an underground Bible-teaching and evangelistic ministry in Moscow, later ministering in 22 Russian cities for eighteen years. Jim's teaching ministry spread to over 20 countries. After returning to Houston, Jim continued to host the Questions and Answers program (often with Peggi or their son, Jon) and teach at the College of Biblical Studies. He also taught an adult Bible class at Sagemont Church.
A graduate of UCLA in political science, Jim also held the Master of Theology and the Doctor of Ministries from Dallas Theological Seminary. Dr. Klubnik's website, biblicalresources.org, features a rich collections of articles, Bible studies, sermons, charts and diagrams, and topics from his KHCB radio program.
Jim loved spending time with his family, camping, horseback riding, boating, biking, singing, playing the piano, and giving flowers to his wife. His life-long passion was studying God's Word, and sharing his personal faith.
Jim is survived by his wife of 56 years, Peggi; son Jon and his wife Tiffany, and their children, Allie, Kyle and Andrew; his son Tod and his wife Kimberly, and their children, Carson, Riley, Reed and Cade. He is preceded in death by his parents Jim and Ann Klubnik, his brother Don, and his grandsons, Michael and Jake Klubnik.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 29 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Niday Funeral Home, 12440 Beamer Road, Houston, Texas 77089. A Celebration of the Life of Dr. Klubnik will be held on Sunday, August 30 at 3:00 p.m. at Fellowship Bible Church, 1720 E. Broadway Street, Pearland, Texas 77581. Dear Peggi and family, I didn't know Dr. Klubnik had passed until I saw the bulletin at Sagemont Church last Sunday. In my youth, I attended Minnetex Church when he was a pastor and loved to hear his knowledge about the Bible and about Jesus Christ. He walked the talk and I knew I wanted to be a Christian. I even remembered the time he moved the church one weekend to a camping retreat at New Bransfeld where he preached and we had Christian fellowship sitting around at Camp Beans near the Guadalupe River. I never experienced that Christian Fellowship before or forgot it. Later, I moved to Sagemont Church and got involved in the ministry there. I will miss him very much. I heard he had a ministry in Russia. I'm truly sorry for your loss. But he is in Heaven, and I know that Jesus has already greeted him and said, "Well done, my good and faithful servant." May God Bless you Peggi. Love in Christ!

How well remember your ministry in the Molokan region of Russia -- Veronesh, Tambov and Lipisk! What good work he did there in the early days of Perestroika! We were blessed to know Jim and are looking forward to meeting him in Heaven one day. We were glad that Jan Rodger alerted us about the memorial service and we watched it from start to end. God bless you, Peggy. ---Chuck and Chris Schwarz

I am one of thousands of people who have listened to KHCB and the broadcast for MANY years (about 20 for me). We ALL know that when Jim got there...it was said "Well done thou good and faithful servant". We pray for Peggi and the family the Lord will continue to comfort them and appreciate the work they do.

Dear Peggi and family,
Listening now to the broadcast remembering your dear husband. My Mom and I have listened for years, and would discuss it the next day. We will miss him very much. We always loved how he would welcome you and compliment you, and at times tease you. We are sorry for your loss. We pray God will comfort you in every way you need. We all belong to God. Millions have been blessed by Jim's Godly wisdom and knowledge. God Bless you Peggi. We hope to hear you on KHCB in the future. In Christ's love. Deborah
