John N. Chu
AGE: 87 • Brick
John N. Chu, 87 years old, a 29 year resident of Lions Head South in Brick, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2015.
Beloved by his family, he is survived by Jean, his wife of 59 years; his son, Jon Jay Chu (Victoria); daughter, Cynthia Chu; grandchildren, Leyla Babaoglu, Jessica Chu, Deniz Babaoglu and Christopher Chu; brother, Robert Chu (Mary); sister, Mabel Wong; brother, Arnold Chu (Stella); sister-in-law, Elaine Chu, and brother-in-law, Terry Chin. He was predeceased by his parents, Ling and Lee She Chu; his brother, Raymond Chu; his sister, Rose Chin; his brother-in-law, Tony Wong, and his son-in-law Gokalp Babaoglu.
Mr. Chu was born and raised in Manhattan, NY. He attended one of NY's premier magnet schools for science, Stuyvesant High School, and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from New York University. He was a U.S. veteran, having served honorably as a technical specialist in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Before retirement, Mr. Chu was a licensed Professional Engineer and worked for the U.S. federal government at Picatinny Arsenal in NJ.
His family will greatly miss his independent spirit, mental acuity, and un-abiding love and support.
Private services will be held. The family will receive condolences at a later date. Contributions in his memory may be made to Planned Parenthood or a local food bank of your choice.
