G. Merle Shea

G. Merle Shea, 89 of Springfield passed away at 6:30 PM on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at Lewis Memorial Christian Village in Springfield.He was born on November 21, 1926 at Morrisonville the son of Bernard and Nora (Burch) Shea. Merle married Virginia D. Oller on October 16, 1954 at Taylorville. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Wilma Campbell.Before his retirement, Merle was National Sales Manager for Rockwell International. He enjoyed playing with the Charlie Rogers Dance Band. He also enjoyed golfing, fishing and boating.Survivors include: His wife, Virginia Shea of Springfield, IL; Son, Michael (wife, Katie) Shea of Springfield, IL; 6 Grandchildren, Amy, Joel, Patrick, Maggie, Sam and Christopher Shea; Brother, Amos Shea of Oneonta, AL; Several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 12, 2015 at Shafer-Perfetti Funeral Home in Taylorville with Pastor Jim Wolfe officiating. Burial will follow at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:00 AM until time of service at Shafer-Perfetti Funeral Home.Shafer-Perfetti Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Taylorville is in charge of arrangements.
