Ruth E. Whitten, 97 of Hillsboro passed away at 2:04 AM on Friday, January 1, 2016 at Hillsboro Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.She was born on September 16, 1918 at Litchfield the daughter of the late William and Josie (Grubbs) Sattgast. Ruth was married to Howard C. Whitten; he preceded her in death in June 1979. Ruth and her husband owned and operated Hillsboro Greenhouse for many years. She had also been the secretary for the Hillsboro Chamber of Commerce and worked at Dowalders's Newsstand and FAYCO.Survivors include: Daughter, Phyllis Whitworth of Hillsboro, IL; Grandchildren, Suzanne Rush (Brad Brening) of Gillespie, IL and Rob (Linda) Rush of St. Charles, MO; Great grandchildren, Matt Rush (Stephanie Horton) of Mahomet, IL, Tara Smith of Glen Carbon, IL and Ashley Rush (Jordan Watkins) of Lincoln, IL; Great great grandchildren, Jordynn and Traevon of Lincoln, IL.Cremation rites will be accorded and inurnment will be in Wares Grove Cemetery at a later date.In memory of Ruth memorials are suggested to the FAYCO activity fund.Perfetti Funeral Home in Sorento is in charge of arrangements.
