ABBOTT
A. George Abbott, beloved husband of 53 years to Janet Abbott (nee Pickard), loving father of Michael George (Amy) of Jupiter, Florida, Timothy Andrew (Amy) of Milford, Ohio, and the late Judith Abbott DeMorest Burdorf of Cincinnati. Devoted grandfather to Emily DeMorest of Huber Heights, Ohio, Acacia and Edeline Abbott of Milford, Ohio, and Jessica and Sarah Abbott of Jupiter, Florida. Preceded in death by parents George and Helen Abbott, and siblings Frank and Judith Palmer Abbott. George passed away on his mother's birthday, February 9, 2016, at the age of 85. George was an MIT-trained Metallurgist who came to prominence in the powdered metals field with the A.O. Smith Corporation and Kobelco Metal Powder of America after serving as a Captain in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. When not working, George enjoyed officiating both youth and adult soccer games, working on his extensive model railroad collection and golfing. His greatest joy in recent years was being a volunteer at Mercy Hospital-Anderson where he was admired by co-volunteers, staff and patients for his helpfulness, cheery demeanor and fun loving personality. The Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, February 16, 2016, at St. Vincent Ferrer Church in Kenwood at 10:00 a.m., preceded by a visitation at 9:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Cincinnati or The Sister Ruth Memorial Fund, Mercy Hospital-Anderson. www.cremationcincinnati.com
