Lincoln Irons, Sr.
York
Lincoln Irons, Sr., 81, died peacefully at home on February 9, 2016. Lincoln was born in York on June 7, 1934 to the late Hezekiah Irons, Sr. and Maggie (Johnson) Irons.
He was an Army Veteran and worked many years for York City Waste. He is survived by his partner, Marcella Mitchell; children, Wanda Dailey (Adam), James "Crick" DeShields, Eric "Theady" DeShields (Patricia), Tyna "Sissy" Murray (Ralph), Norris Murray (Carolyn), Lincoln Irons, Jr., Darlene Herrera (Matthew), Phillip Banks and Hope Orr, all of York; Rodney "Scott" Irons and Calvin Irons of Anchorage, Alaska. He also leaves many loving nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his siblings, James Irons, Leo Irons, Elise Wilson, Louise Allen (Willie), Lillie Mae Carter, Pretto Folk and Geraldine Hill; sons, Dwight Hunter (Deb) and Larry "Toothpick" Nolden.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 16, 2016, at 7 p.m. at Gladfelter Funeral Home, Inc., 822 E. Market St., York, PA 17403. A time of visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Interment will be at a later date at Indiantown Gap National Veterans Cemetery with full military rites.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to help defray expenses.
