John Williamson Zeigler Jr. 1931 - 2016
FORT WORTH, TX - John Williamson Zeigler Jr., 84, passed away Monday, July 25, 2016.
Funeral: Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m., Friday, July 29, at Holy Family Catholic Church.
Entombment: Greenwood Mausoleum with military honors.
Visitation: 5-7 p.m. on Thursday at Thompson's Harveson & Cole Funeral Home.

John was born Sept. 21, 1931, in Springfield, Ill., the son of Agnes Cullen Zeigler and John Williamson Zeigler Sr. He was offered a baseball contract with the Washington Senators but chose to attend college at the University of Illinois where he received his bachelor's degree in business.
After his service in the Army and college graduation, John and his brother started Zeigler Insurance in Springfield. He moved his family to Texas in the early '60s and continued his insurance business.
As an insurance agent, John received the designation of CLU and CHFC, served as president of the Fort Worth CLU Association, and also was past president of the Action Ambassadors of the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce.
He volunteered his time and taught insurance classes at TCU and throughout the area to help train new agents.
In 2003, John married Patricia Burr at a beautiful lakeside ceremony.
He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, an avid golfer, 50-year member of Ridglea Country Club, and a 50-year participant in the Ridglea 400.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Teresa Joan Zeigler, and his brothers, Gerald Zeigler and James Zeigler.
The family express their thanks to the physicians and staff who have taken excellent care of John.
Survivors: wife, Patricia Burr Zeigler; sons: Daniel T. Zeigler, John Williamson Zeigler III and wife, Kathy Jo, Michael P. Zeigler and husband, Victor Lopez; grandchildren: Park Williamson Zeigler, Charlotte Teresa Zeigler, Avery Hilliard Zeigler, and John Williamson Zeigler IV; and Patricia's family: Charles Burr and wife, Debbie, Kathi Harp and husband, Danny, and Rick Burr and wife, Gwen; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
