DENISON - Michael Woodrow Buffington, 73, went straight from his wife's arms to God's on August 25th, 2016 at his home in Denison. Memorial Services will be held Thursday 4 p.m. September 1, 2016 at Bent Tree Bible Fellowship 4141 International Pkwy Carrollton, Texas 75007.
Michael was born April 17, 1943 in Dallas to Woodrow Buffington and Kathleen (Monroe) Buffington. He graduated from North Dallas High School in 1961, and has remained in touch with many of his classmates over the years. He studied architecture at The University of Texas at Arlington, and owned Buffco Structural Steel Detailing, where one of his most memorable projects was the Dallas Police Memorial.
As a member of Bent Tree Bible Fellowship for 16 years, he served in many capacities of leadership. In the past Michael was involved in horse racing through ownership for over ten years and service on the national board of the Racetrack Chaplaincy of America. He was also a volunteer with Promise Keepers, Victim Relief Ministries, and was Past President of the Dallas Executives Association.
Michael is survived by his wife Cindy Buffington of Denison; daughter Lari Howard of Dallas; son Jim Buffington and wife Dawn of Fort Worth; sister Becky Stewart and husband Kermit of Kerrville, Texas; grandchildren Austin Chandler and Ethan Howard, both of Dallas, Tate Buffington, Mia Buffington, and Ty Buffington, all of Fort Worth; and many extended family members, in-laws, nieces and nephews.
He fought bravely against ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) with a cheerful heart, never complaining, lifting everyone else up. Mike will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

I just saw where Mike died online. I worked for Mike as a steel detailer, I'm sorry for your loss Cindi but happy that he found Christ.

Like Paul, Mike also fought a Good fight..," He served by example. He touched the lives of the multitudes, no doubt, with his "HUGS", "HANDSHAKES" and "HELLOS" .."letting his LIGHT so SHINE that men could see his good works."
