David Paul Vautrinot, 89, Clifford Twp., passed away Sunday at Geisinger Community Medical Center with his wife, Mary Theresa Vautrinot, by his side. They celebrated 15 years of marriage on May 7.
Born in Massachusetts, son of the late Theodore Antone and Alice Carpenter Vautrinot, Dave dedicated his life to the military. As a career military man, he served in the Coast Guard, Navy, Army and Air Force, completing his military career in the Air Force.
Following his military career, Dave was employed by Boeing Co. and Bell Helicopter Co.
He enjoyed hockey, golfing, being outdoors, music, dancing and the performing arts. Dave dearly loved his dogs, Cory, Lady and Jolie. Dave was a loving and caring husband and very devoted to his wife. His selfless acts and gentle nature will be remembered by all those lives he touched.
Mary Theresa would like to express a most sincere and heartfelt thank you to the entire staff at Geisinger Mountain View Care Center for the care given to Dave during the past two and a half years. In addition, a special thank you to the team of caregivers at Geisinger Community Medical Center, where Dave spent his last day on this Earth.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Marjorie Vautrinot Winthrop; and brothers, Theodore, Allyn, Brad and Donald Vautrinot.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Peter's Cathedral, Scranton, by His Excellency the Most Rev. Joseph C. Bambera D.D., J.C.L., bishop of Scranton. Cremation will follow. Interment at a later date.
Should friends desire, memorial donations may be sent to the Diocese of Scranton, 300 Wyoming Ave., Scranton, PA 18503, in lieu of flowers.

Dave was a resident of mine at MVCC. He was a very smart man who always had a story to tell.May he rest in peace.
