Stanley Hudson
Poughquag - Stanley Hudson, a resident of Poughquag since 1988 and formerly of Peekskill, died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Thursday, October 19, 2017. He was 89.
Son of the late Samuel and Esther (McMahon) Hudson, he was born in Peekskill on April 20, 1928. Stanley worked for many years as a machinist at New York Central Railroad and later worked for several companies in the dairy industry as a union member. Before his retirement, he was the Building Superintendent of Highland Terrace in Ossining.
Stanley was a lifetime member of the BPO Elks Lodge in Poughkeepsie and the Moose Club of Hyde Park. He and his wife were always fond of dancing, and were members of "Leisure Time Dancers". Stanley's hobbies included golf, bowling, and travel.
On October 8, 1947, he married Jean Fowler in Peekskill. In 2008, Stanley & Jean were recognized as King & Queen at the Dutchess County Office For Aging annual "Senior Prom". After 70 years of marriage, Jean survives at home in Poughquag.
Additional survivors include three daughters: Sandy Spurrier & her husband Dave of Johnstown, CO, Pat Amann & her husband Frank of Poughquag, and Gloria Hudson of Poughquag; his grandchildren, Amy Seger & her husband Tim, Andrew Geist, Luke Geist & his wife Lindsey, Frank Amann, Jr. & his fiancé Sandy Black, Matthew Amann & his partner Melissa Simmons, and Jason Amann & his wife Sera; his great-grandchildren, Chris, Ryan, Landon, Lilah, Jacque, Shelby, Madison, Hunter, Gavin, Caitlin, and Wyatt; and many nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives & friends. He was also surrogate grandfather to James, Michelle, & Renee Brady and Tanya Smiley.
Stanley was predeceased by his siblings, Samuel Hudson, Harry Hudson, Sidney Hudson, Ray Hudson, Bill Hudson, and Liz Valentine.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, October 22 at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 23 at the funeral home, followed by entombment in the Community Mausoleum at Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
