December 1, 1935 - January 9, 2018 Loving husband, father and grandfather, Karl Schurz is survived by wife, Bernadette; children Karl Schurz (Luanna) Gretchen (Jose) Bradford (Tonya) Mercedes (Randy); grandchildren Kaeleigh, Logan and Ryan. Karl was a graduate of Beverly Hills High School and University of California, Berkeley. He joined his father's real estate firm the Karl B. Schurz Company in 1962, a Beverly Hills institution for over ninety years. Karl was active in community affairs serving as president of the Beverly Hills Chamber of Commerce during the 1989 Diamond Jubilee celebration and later president of the Rotary Club of Beverly Hills. A man of many interests and insatiable curiosity, he mastered many skills like flying a plane, white-water rafting, architectural photograph as a student of Julius Shulman, fly-fishing, spanish guitar, skeet-shooting, carpentry and a life-long love of golf with two hole-in-ones. A funeral mass will be held at the Church of the Good Shepherd, 505 N. Bedford, Beverly Hills on Friday January 19 at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, please make donation to the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration, Radnor Station Building 2, Suite 320. 290 King of Prussia Road, Radnor, PA 19087.

I'm sorry to hear about the passing of Karl. I had been trying to reach him for a few months and found this obituary. He was one of the most entertaining and likeable people I've ever known. The best to Bernadette and the rest of his family. From Lynn Morris
