William Darwine Obituary

KNOXVILLE - William "Bill" L. Darwine, Knoxville, passed away in the early hours of Jan. 13, 2018, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.
Bill was born Dec. 19, 1937, in Galesburg, the son of Gus and Dorothy (Baker) Darwine. He married Teresa Noonan on June 18, 1960.
He is survived by their children, Debbie Darwine (Michael Staes) of Oak Park and Terri Vanderjack (Brian) of Downers Grove; and two grandchildren, Matt Vanderjack of Naperville and Marc Vanderjack of Beijing, China. He is also survived by a sister, Joan Brenner (Ken) of Lake Barrington; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Teresa.
Bill was born and raised in Galesburg and was a graduate of Galesburg High School. After being transferred to various locations as a manager for CrediThrift of America, he and his family returned to Galesburg in 1966. He served in the Army Reserves and National Guard and also worked at the Elk's Club, Carl Sandburg College, and for many year, as director of maintenance for District 205, from where he retired in 2002. Bill had many talents in multiple areas, but was a unique and tremendously talented craftsman both in carpentry and woodworking. He and Teresa owned Peacock Antiques.
Bill dearly loved his family, his little Cavalier pal, Cooper, restoration of antique furniture, reading, music, gardening, and all creatures great and small. He and Teresa enjoyed travel throughout the United States and especially their many Caribbean cruises. Bill had an amazing sense of humor and loved to laugh. He is deeply loved by his family and will leave such an emptiness in all our lives. He will be greatly and forever missed.
Cremation will be accorded, and, at his request, there will be no service or visitation.
