Thaddeus J. "Ted" Piatek November 30, 1932 - January 19, 2018. GARY, IN - Thaddeus J. "Ted" Piatek was born in Gary, IN to Martin and Mary Piatek. Survived by wife, Rosemary Piatek; Sons: Larry and Jay Piatek; brother- in-law: Robert Valencia (Josie); sister-in-laws: Gloria Lawton and Liz Valencia; daughter-in- laws: Eva Brasar and Wendy Piatek; granddaughters: Nicolina Brasar and Alexa Muse (Dan); grandsons: Christian, Chase, and Chad Piatek; numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents: Martin and Mary Piatek; sister: Jean Krieger Vrabel; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Frank Valencia and Evelyn Valencia Hass; and many pets. He graduated from Emerson High School in 1950. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955. Ted was a Gary firefighter for 20 yrs and then worked at R.W. Pool for 18 yrs. as a sales rep. Ted was a member of the American Legion Post 94, FOE #2517, Elks Lodge 500, and Silver Bell Club. Ted loved going fishing every chance he could get with Rosemary and the family. He enjoyed feeding the animals in his yard. He was an outstanding chef. He was very athletic running several marathons. He was a devoted fan of Notre Dame Football and the Chicago Cubs. He enjoyed going out for a beer, or two, or more. Ted had amazing wit, was the greatest storyteller, and his timing was perfect with every joke. He left everyone with a smile. Visitation will be held at Moeller Funeral Home in Valparaiso on Tuesday January 23, 2018 from 3:00- 7:00p.m., Funeral Service will be held at funeral home on Wednesday Jan. 24th at 10:00a.m., Interment will follow at Calumet Park Cemetery Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Ted's name to Frieds Animal Shelter, Mich. City, IN or Porter County Animal Shelter, Valparaiso, IN.

I was a co-worker with Rosemary at the Bethlehem Steel Machine shop. My sincere condolences to the Piatek Family.
