Cretsinger, Timothy Thomas "Tim" Portage, MI Timothy Thomas "Tim" Cretsinger entered into eternal rest unexpectedly on Monday, August 13, 2018. He was born August 3, 1978 in Kalamazoo, MI. He was the son of Cynthia (Cantu) Cretsinger and Thomas Baranoski. Tim graduated from Hackett Catholic Central High School in 1996. He received his B.A. in English Language and Literature from the University of Michigan in 2001. Tim furthered his education by earning a Juris Doctorate from the Lewis & Clark Law School, Northwestern School of Law in Portland, Oregon in 2006. Tim was currently practicing law from his office in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Tim was an avid reader, a history buff, and loved to "compete" on Jeopardy from the comfort of his home. He was a lover of nature and animals, especially cats. He was quite a prankster with an intellectual wit, who loved to impersonate others and make people laugh. He was a big guy, who diligently advocated for the weak, the small, and the underserved. He protected others from the 'bullies' of the world. He had a huge, generous heart. He is survived by his mother, Cindy; his father, Tom; companion Frances Peasley; step father Mark Cretsinger; grandparents Eloy and Maggie Cantu and Phyllis Baranoski; brother Dan Baranoski; nephews Corbin and Gage Baranoski; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. A memorial service to celebrate Tim's life will be held at St. Catherine of Siena in Portage, MI, on August 23. Friends may meet the family at the church where a Rosary will be prayed between 10:00 to 10:30 a.m., followed by visitation from 10:30 to 11:00, and mass at 11:00. A luncheon will be held after mass at the same location. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Catherine of Siena Church, 1150 W. Centre Ave. Portage Michigan or St. Vincent de Paul Society of Kalamazoo, Michigan. Please visit Tim's personalized webpage for directions, online guestbook, or to leave a condolence. Arrangements were made by the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. www.langelands.com.

I'm so sad to hear this. Tim was a colleague I respected so much for his commitment to immigrant rights. He was a lovely guy and I'm so sorry for his family's loss.

I am absolutely shocked to hear of the passing of a great man whom was taken to early. I just recently had the opportunity to reconnect with Tim both on a personal and business level and was looking forward to more time reconnecting with him.
My thoughts and prayers are with him, his family and those that new him. May Tim continue to be the great person he has always been in a new place!

I was Tim's office neighbor. I assumed he would be a friend for many more years. Incredibly sad. He had so much to offer this world in the years to come.
