Age 85, of Oxnard, CA passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness on Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2009 in Camarillo, CA. Billye was born on Nov. 14, 1924 in Tishomingo, OK to Will L. and Grace Goodman.
Billye worked in a variety of occupations and had several hobbies during her life. She was a lab tech at Oxnard Frozen Foods for 29 years. She also worked in the cafeteria at Hueneme High School and provided daycare services.
She enjoyed politics and donated much of her time to varied causes and the polling stations. At home, she enjoyed her flowers, especially orchids, and performing yard work.
Billye was a resident of Ventura County for 68 years after arriving here with her family following the Dust Bowl in OK. She belonged to the Oxnard Christian Center Church for 34 years. She loved her church, her pastor, and working for the Lord. She directed the church's Love Center, a food pantry for the homeless, for many years.
Billye always gave to others, whether it was food, money, a blanket, or advice, she gave it readily. Most of all, we will remember her for her prayers. She was responsible for bringing numerous people to the Lord through her wisdom and knowledge of the word of God.
Billye is survived by two sisters, Stella Cason and Christine Ballinger; three brothers, Robert, Jess and Tom Goodman; a daughter, Sue Dalton; two sons Joseph (wife Linda) and Jack (wife Christina) Hickerson; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her mother, Grace Goodman; her father, Will L. We all love you and will miss you forever.
