LANCASTER

June A. (Burns) David, 82, of 2343 North Main St., died Friday, December 3, 2010 in UMass Memorial Healthcare, Worcester, after an illness. Her husband of 35 years, George O. David, died in 1988.

She is survived by two sons: Robert David of Worcester, and Major James David, US Air Force, and his wife, Dr. Sadaf Khan, of Lompoc, CA; three daughters: Gail David and her companion, Louisa VanDoremalen of Fort Meyers, FL, June David-Fors and her husband, Richard Fors, with whom she lived/of Lancaster, and Bonnie David of Leominster; a granddaughter, Amy David; one great-grandchild; a sister-in-law, Josie Burns of Worcester; many loving members of her extended family, including a special niece, Ruth Fassett, and a special nephew, Bobby Burns, and his wife, Kathy; and two step-sons, Richard & George David. She was predeceased by a daughter, Cindy Lou David, three brothers, Walter, Milton & James Burns, and a sister who died in infancy.

June was born and raised in Worcester, the daughter of Robert H. and Altie M. (Swett) Burns, and attended local schools. She was a resident of Lancaster for more than 50 years.

For 25 years until her retirement, June worked in the Cafeteria at Lancaster Middle School.

A long-time member of the Evangelical Congregational Church, Lancaster, she volunteered for many years as a Sunday School Teacher.

June was a member of the Lancaster Senior Center, enjoyed playing Bingo, loved her Bingo friends, trips to Twin Rivers Casino, and, in her younger days, roller skating. She loved children and animals, and will be remembered as a woman with strong moral convictions, who always stood up for those less fortunate.

June’s funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 7, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. in the Evangelical Congregational Church, 793 Main St., Lancaster. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery, Worcester. Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Monday, December 6, 2010 from 4:00-7:00 p.m., in the McNally & Watson Funeral Home, 304 Church St., Clinton.
