RET. CSM Glenn D. Wolfe 83 of Hoover, passed away October 23, 2011. US Army, retired Command Sergeant Major. Military service began in 1948 with the Indiana National Guard. Service continued with military intelligence and transportation units in St. Petersburg and West Palm Beach, before his final duty with the 81st ARCOM in Atlanta where he received the Army Commendation Medal and the Meritorious Service Medal.
Retirement for Glenn was not an opportunity to grow old, as he proceeded to build two new homes and remodel several others in the next 20 years. Glenn was an active volunteer with his church and was often on top of a roof while the younger men handed him up materials. Glenn's hobbies included restoring Edison phonographs, player pianos and pump organs. Glenn is a true patriot and loved his country. When asked if he would have done anything differently, he answered, "I would have joined the Army sooner."
