Thomas Buford Burt, 91, of Chester, passed away on Friday, Nov. 16, 2012.
He was a graduate of the College of William and Mary. Mr. Burt was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He was retired from the Civil Service working on Fort Lee, Va.; and he was also a retired real estate agent. Mr. Burt was an accomplished and talented musician; and he played with the Southern Serenaders Band.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Estelle M. Burt; and his parents, John Edward Burt IV and Louise Harrison Burt.
Mr. Burt is survived by his children, Carolyn Grace Burt, Thomas Harrison Burt, and Suzanne Burt Kersey; grandsons, Alex, Tyler, and Jesse Burt; granddaughters, Whitney Kersey, and Suzette Kersey Bishop; brother, Douglas Burt; sister, Evelyn Burt Trice; and other loving family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012, at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 19, 2012, at St. John's Episcopal Church in Hopewell, with Father Bill Taylor officiating. Interment will follow at Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens in Prince George. Condolences may be registered online at www.jtmorriss.com.

Please accept my deepest sympathy in the loss of your beloved father. Your Dad accomplished much and contributed much during his life here on earth. He has left a fine, proud legacy.May God bless you and keep you during this sad time.

Tom and Estelle worked with my father's real estate company for years (Tri-City Realty) and they were such a nice couple. I know you now will miss Tom also. My thoughts and prayers are with you. With deepest sympathy.
