Zaleta, Gary R..
Gary R. Zaleta (Z-Man) passed away on Sunday, May 12, 2013. He was survived by his three children Christopher, Jonathan and Stephanie, their mother Sandi, his brother Michael and his wife Susan, his brother Wayne, greatly loved and appreciated Bob and Laura, dear nieces and nephews and many other friends and relatives. He was predeceased by his parents Andrew J. and Helene and his brother Andrew R. He grew up in Fairfield, CT and proudly served in the Navy after high school. After returning from Vietnam he continued his community service becoming a firefighter for the town of Fairfield, retiring after 25 years of service. He then became a Fire Marshal for the town of Monroe and a Fire Investigator for Thomas J. Russo Consultants of Connecticut. He was very dedicated to The American Red Cross, donating blood as much as he could. Of the many organizations he belonged to, he especially enjoyed his time with the CT Firefighters Pipes and Drums, being one of the founding members. He enjoyed spending his free time at a casino, traveling coast to coast to experience as many as he could. He was loved my many and will be sadly missed. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gary's memory to The Connecticut Burns Foundation or the Burn Center at Bridgeport Hospital . A Funeral Service will be held Friday, May 17th, 2013 at 11am at the Spadaccino and Leo P. Gallagher & Son Community Funeral Home, 315 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe. Calling hours will be Thursday, May 16th, from 4pm-8pm at the Spadaccino and Leo P. Gallagher & Son Community Funeral Home, 315 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe. Burial will follow in St. Johns Cemetery, Moose Hill Road, Monroe.

To the family, I'm very sorry for your loss. I worked with Gary for a couple years before he retired. I can still picture him always wanting to cook at the picnics of course with a red bandana on his head.
