81 of Jackson, Passed away on Monday, June 10, 2013. Born to James Alvin and Lula Mae Casey in Ballard County, Kentucky on October 7, 1931. He was drafted and served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955, in Mannheim, Germany. Upon return to the states, he was employed by Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Jackson, MI on September 23, 1955, where he worked until the plant closure in 1983. He then transferred to the Danville, VA plant, which he retired from in 1992. On January 29, 1957 he married Alma, the love of his life, in Angola, Indiana. They have celebrated 56 years of marriage. James left this life with his wife, Alma, and beloved daughter, Felita, by his side. He was proud of his grandson, Garrett. He cherished his granddaughter, Faryn. They will forever keep the memories of their Pop with them. He loved watching his grandchildren play sports and going on the annual family trips back to Danville, VA and Myrtle Beach. He was proud of his southern heritage and the farming background of his youth. It was a spiritual experience to watch him spend time in his vegetable gardens. The Lord blessed him with the ability to raise a garden like no other. He taught us the importance of sacrifice and more importantly the importance of loving each other. James was a tenderhearted soul that loved his Lord immensely. Other survivors include: sister, Dorothy Luckett and her sons Roger Cooper and Jeffrey Cooper, of Kevil, Kentucky. His lightheartedness leaves us with a heavy heart. Funeral service will be held Monday, June 17th, at 2:00 pm, at the funeral home with Rev. Vincent Bridge officiating. a visitation will be held on Sunday, June 16th, from 2:00 – 6:00 pm. He will be laid to rest at Fifield Cemetery.
