Maxine S. Jackson was born on April 3, 1920 and passed away on September 27, m2013 in Fresno. She was born in Junis, South Dakota to Claude and Effie Sumner, the third of five daughters. The family moved to Norwood, Missouri when Maxine was eight years old. She graduated from Norwood High School in 1938. Maxine left Missouri during the war and moved with her husband and son to Los Angeles where she worked in an aviation plant. Her daughter was born in Los Angeles in 1945. The family moved to Fresno in 1948 where Maxine was a homemaker until she went to work as a bookkeeper in 1955 at Schwabenland Ford Tractor and retired from Kuckenbecker Ford Tractor in 1985. Maxine was an avid golfer and bridge player and enjoyed ballroom dancing. She traveled throughout the valley with the Riverside Women's Golf Team enjoying the competition and friendships she made over the 35 years she was involved. Maxine also enjoyed her weekly bridge games with the ladies at Stonebridge and St. Anthony's Church. She loved her home and her neighbors who were so kind and caring to her. Maxine is survived by her daughter Judy (Minasian) Thompson and grandchildren Kim Minasian-Sparks and spouse David, Jason Minasian and spouse Christina; her son Ron Thompson and spouse Laura; grandchildren Julie Costa and Susan Burroughs; seven great grandchildren Ian, Sara, Isabelle, Tyler, Clayton, Tess and Jack; her sisters Evelyn Wright, Mt. Grove, Missouri, Opal Chadwell, Norwood, Missouri and their families. She was predeceased by her sisters Pauline Turgeon, Mt. Grove, Missouri and Helen Schlesinger, Altadena, California. A service will be held at a family church in Mt. Grove, Missouri with burial at Hillcrest Cemetery in Mountain Grove, Missouri.
