Joseph Pirkey
Crozet - Joseph Lee Pirkey "Joe". 63. of Crozet, passed away on Sunday, September 22, 2013 at the Martha Jefferson Hospital ICU.
He was born in Waynesboro, VA on June 4, 1950 to Jake A. and the late Alberta Fisher Pirkey.
Joe graduated from Wilson Memorial High School in l969 and Blue Ridge Community College in 1972.
He was employed with the Norfolk Police Department for 7 years, Dominion Power for 23 years. He then moved to Crozet, VA and his last employment was Martha Jefferson Hospital in security and Old Trail Golf Course. He loved his jobs meeting people and helping them when he could.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Teresa Pirkey, and his daughters, Jennifer Little and husband Paul of Huntsville, Alabama, and Nicole Gonzalez and husband Morris of Greenwood, VA. Five wonderful grandchildren, his mother-in-law, Doris Fitzgerald who she thought of as her son, his sisters and brothers-in-law, a sister, Fay Bannon (Michael) of Norfolk a brother, David Pirkey (Darlene) of Waynesboro, a nephew Brent Pirkey (Katina), nieces, aunts, uncles and cousins, step-grandchild and step
great-grandchildren.
Joes passion was his family, golf and his love for cars. A life celebration is planned in honor of Joe Pirkey on Sunday, October 13, at 2 p.m. at Old Trail Golf Course in the Club House located at 5494 Golf Drive, Crozet, VA. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of your choice.

It was my privilege to know and work wirh Joe at both the Norfolk Police Department and with Virginia Power. He spent most of his life in the service of and helping others.My condolences to his family.

Joe was always smiling, happy, kind and his good mood and laughter were contagious. I loved working with him. Every little thing he did was always out of kindness and consideration for others. I count myself lucky to have known him, and will miss him. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Joe was a great man, I've only worked with him for about a year, but we spoke alot and mostly about his Granddaughter, He informed me of the pumpin patches and christmas tree farms to take my daughters to and we had a great time. He will truly be missed and never forgotten, Sorry for your loss.
