Murrel Walton Obituary

Murrel Bly Walton, of Shady Valley, Tenn., passed away on Sunday, Jan. 19, 2014. at her residence. She was 77.

She was born on July 17, 1936, to the late David and Mabel Severt Smith.

In addition to her parents, Murrel was preceded in death by her husband Boy Walton; and a sister, Pinkie Cochran.

Murrel never met a stranger; showing kindness and compassion to everyone that she ever met. She had a friendly and loving spirit and enjoyed spending time and company with everyone, especially her children and grandchildren. Murrel loved Jesus and lived her life according to His Word.

She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Patty and Joe Milam, Becky and Jimmy Lowe and Kimra and Rick Campbell; sons and daughter-in-law, Kenny Walton and Roy and wife Rita Walton; sisters, Sylvia Roark, Elsie Stone and Sadie Lyles; brothers, Ray Smith, Ralph Smith and Roy Smith; granddaughters, Kendi Walton, Kelsey Walton, Cayla Arney and husband Chad and Marissa Walton; grandsons, Jody Milam, Brian Walton, Derek Stidhams, Joshua Stidhams and Zack Walton; great grandchildren, Tyler Milam, Jeremiah Milam, Taylor Milam, Kole Walton, Brylan Walton and Zoey Walton; special friends, Shirley Howell, Karen Eller, Holiveen Cooper, Hilda Brookshire, Paula Reynolds, Dr. Raina Sluder, and David and Kim Dail; her little poodle, Angel; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014, at the Mountain City Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ken Holmes and Pastor Leonard Fletcher to officiate. Music will be provided by Leonard Fletcher and Ken and Chris Holmes. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. prior to the service.

Graveside Service and Interment will follow from the Bald Mountain Cemetery with Rev. Ralph Smith and Rev. Roy Smith to officiate. Pallbearers will be Jody Milam, Brian Walton, Derek Stidhams, Tyler Milam, Joshua Stidhams, Zach Walton, Jeremiah Milam and Rick Campbell. Honorary Pallbearers are David Sluder, Ronnie Jones, Leon Steagall, Charles Wallace, Dakotah Campbell, Chad Arney, Chris, Kevin and Matthew McCloud.

At other times, the family will receive friends at the home, 642 Griffin Hollow Road, Shady Valley, TN 37688.
