Albert lived a few blocks from ne as my family moved to HALTOM City in 1951.
I guess Albert and I were closer after he and Linda were first married for they like my wife and I married in high school and therefore there was limited couples we were able to run with.
I can still remember Albert calling one day and ask if we had gotten married when I said yes we immediately started to get together very often.
Sometimes I guess when you are in the same boat with someone experiencing the same journey facing you it just draws you much closer.
As I say we had so many great times and adventures but I guess one of the more memorable one was on Albert´s birthday we decided to go to the lake as Albert was wanting to take his new boat and his 1955 Chevy convertible that he had just had it painted candy apple red and man it was a beauty !!!!
We arrived at the lake looking forward to have the time of our lives so after parking the car and boat close to our campsite we had just put the blankets on the ground and just started to get relaxed there was a loud noise and as we turned to see what was happening we saw it was Albert´s car and boat rolling very fast towards the lake
We all jumped up and made a mad dash towards the car and boat but needless to say it reached the lake before us so as the only thing Albert and I were able to do was to grab the back of the boat trailer and hold on for dear life to prevent the car from going any further in the lake.
We were able to keep the car from going in further as it already floating as as the water was rushing into the inside of this beautiful red car the birthday cake apples and oranges floated to the top of the doors and that alone was a site to behold.
I could write a full book on this experience but I think you get the picture and we were able to get the boat and the car pulled from the lake and towed home close to midnight.
There were many good times with Albert and Linda during our young life´s and would give anything to relive it all over again.
Albert was a Great guy and Fried and he is dearly missed after all theses years.
