Kailua and Des Moines
Mahota Thomas, 88, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2014 at Taylor House Hospice. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday at Wakonda Christian Church with a private interment at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter, IA.
Mahota was born August 13, 1925 in Oklahoma City, OK, the daughter of John and Helen (Monroe) Ferrier. On April 24, 1946 she married Vere Thomas. God blessed them with a deep and enduring love affair until Vere's passing in 2008. They are, at last, together again.
Mahota was a loving mother and grandmother. She was entirely devoted to her children and grandchildren and was a perfect partner for her husband's ministry: truly a Proverbs 31:10 woman.
She is survived by her daughter, Judy (Jim) DeMatteis; son, Bruce (Becky) Thomas; sisters, Marcia Traywick and Johnene Lunn; granddaughters, Jennifer and Jessica Thomas; nephews, Richard (Linda) Traywick, Michael Stiles and Mark Stiles; and nieces, Tressa (Glen) Phipps and Nancy (Bill) Ledgerwood.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at McLaren's Resthaven Chapel. Memorial contributions may be given to Taylor House Hospice or a church of the givers choice.

There are no words to express how much Brother Vere and Mahota meant to me. I loved them so very much and will miss them immensely. Their testimony has left an indelible stamp on my life. The Word they taught and lived still lives on in the taped messages I still listen to. I miss them but comfort comes knowing they are with the Lord.
