Anita Lewtas Obituary

Anita W. Lewtas, 89, died on March 22, 2014 after a brief illness. She was born in Boston, Massachusetts, the daughter of Arvid and Maria Wahlstrom. She graduated from Girls Latin School, and received her bachelors degree from Boston University in 1945, where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. She married Ralph A. Lewtas in Dorchester, MA in 1946 and they lived in Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Texas before settling in Sudbury, Massachusetts in 1968, where they lived for many years. In recent years she lived in Deland, FL and Peterborough, NH; and moved to Orchard Hill in Sudbury in late 2012. Anita was devoted to her family, and had a wide range of interests, including geology, history, gardening, and knitting. She is survived by her sons, Ted A. Lewtas and wife Ellen of Milwaukee, WI and Anthony R. Lewtas and wife Kathryn of Sudbury, MA; her daughter-in-law, Winnie Skeates of Hancock, NH; her grandchildren Kevin Lewtas and wife Alyssa of Carlisle, MA, Andrea Lewtas of West Roxbury, MA and John Lewtas of Hancock, NH; her great-granddaughter, Maria Lewtas; her sister-in-law Geraldine Searles of Lebanon, NH; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Lewtas, her son Eric Lewtas, and her siblings Virginia, Alma, Paul, and Sven. Funeral service will be held on Friday, March 28th at 2:00 PM at Saint Elizabeths Episcopal Church, One Morse Road, Sudbury, Massachusetts, 01776, with the Reverend Barbara Williamson celebrating. A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to St. Elizabeths Episcopal Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Duckett-J.S.
