Mrs. Prushing, I am saddened to hear of your family's loss. It is loss to the community as well. Mr. Prushing was great teacher, athletic director and wonderful ambassador of all that is good about Gahanna, especially the High School. He always seemed to have that big broad smile for everyone everyday and I knew he truly loved what he was doing. He touched my life and many other's lives. He was a strong positive influence both in and out of the classroom. I feel blessed to have had him as teacher and mentor. Good men such as he are rare and he will be missed by all who knew him.

What wonderful memories Mr. Prushing evokes. He was one of many respected and devoted Gahanna Lincoln teachers of the mid 20th century. I remember the chemistry lab; April sun streaming through the huge windows and Mr. Prushing explaining the organization of the periodic table. Gone to the Teacher's Lounge above, it seems.
Thanks to his family who obviously took pride in him over the years.

To the Prushing Family:
I am sorry to hear about Barney's passing. I first met Barney as a young high school teacher and coach when I was hired by Gahanna Jefferson Public Schools in 1981. His office door was always open to me if I had any questions and he became a great mentor and friend. His impact on Lincoln High School was tremendous and I am glad that I got to work with him. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers.
