Louis Nilles Obituary

Nilles Jr., Louis James 84, formerly of Naperville, IL died Saturday, April 5, 2014 in Green Valley, AZ surrounded by loving family and friends. Born on December 20, 1929, Lou was a graduate of Immaculate Conception High School in Cedar Rapids, IA and later of General Motors Automotive School in Flint, MI. On September 20, 1952, while serving in the Iowa National Guard, Lou married Norma Jean Florang in Alexandria, LA. Lou worked for AC Spark Plug in Cedar Rapids and in Bismarck, ND. Norma and Lou raised their children in Naperville, IL while he was an instructor at Joliet Junior College in Joliet, IL. They moved to Green Valley, AZ in 1993. Surviving Lou are his six children, Stephen (Dolores) of Green Valley, AZ, Jane (Patrick DeShazo) of Mont Vernon, NH, Thomas (Charisse) of Canton, MI, James (Martha) of Lisle, IL, William and Matthew Nilles of Naperville, IL; their mother, Norma Nilles of Green Valley, AZ; and his eight grandchildren. Also remaining are his brother, Gerald (Monica) Nilles; sisters, Joan (John) McAreavy, and Carol Nilles; along with many cousins, nieces and nephews. Lou donated his body to the UA Willed Body Program in Tucson, AZ. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to the Respiratory Health Association at www.lungchicago.org. Lou's memorial service will be held at St. Raphael's Catholic Church, 1215 Modaff Road in Naperville, IL on Saturday, May 31 at 11:00 a.m.

Lou was a big part of my family, friends with my dad and adopted by the rest of us. He was always one to be counted on with his quiet way and dry humor. We never thought we would lose him so soon after moving next door. Deeply loved by us and now greatly missed.
