Blauvelt Sr., Donald
Donald Blauvelt, Sr. 99 of Wilawana, PA born July 23, 1914, passed away on June 19, 2014 at Sayre House Health Care Center. He is survived by daughters, Phyllis (Harry) Swan of Horseheads, NY, Beverly (Kenneth) Lattimer Wolcott of Sayre, PA, Sharon (Carl) Wandell Heter, Knoxville,TN; son, Donald (Elizabeth) Blauvelt of Sayre, PA. He is also survived by 26 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth in February 1989; son, James N. Blauvelt (Sept 1979); grandson, Rodney A. Swan (Jan, 1999) and grandson, Scott Wandell (August 2001). After retiring, Donald spent 25 winters going to Frost Proof, FL. When his wife Elizabeth was alive Donald loved camping with his family in the Adirondacks. Donald was an avid hunter and trapper and was a great story-teller. He worked at the Lehigh Railroad and later retired from Thatcher Glass in Elmira, NY. A time of gathering with family and friends will be from 10:00 A.M.to 11:00 A.M., Monday, June 23, 2014, at Blauvelt Funeral Home, 625 Broad Street, Waverly, New York. The celebration of Don's life will follow the visitation with the Pastor Mark Lemmon honoring his memory at 11:00 A.M. A special tribute to Don's life will be presented on DVD during the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Wilawana United Methodist Church in care of Pam Secrist, 5430 Vetter Rd. Sayre, PA 18840 or to Sayre House Health Care Center, 1001 N. Elmer Ave. Sayre, PA 18840. Burial will be at Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, Pennsylvania. Our sincere sympathy goes out to you Sharon,Bev and Phyllis and to the rest of your family at this sad time of your fathers passing. We remember your Dad as an A circle ,Camp Inn friend. He lived a long and good life and I know you will miss him a great deal. He will be missed by many. Again our condolences.

I was pleased to have known Don for a few years. He was always a friendly sort with a big smile. Our visits were brief but I did learn that he was a very good hunter. The last that I saw him he lived on Stone Lick Creek road just outside of Wilawana.
