HARRY WRIGHT Obituary

Harry Wright Jr., 88, Kansas City, Mo., passed away June 21, 2014, at his home. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 25, at Brooking Cemetery, Raytown, Mo., (arrangements through Heartland Cremation and Burial Society (816) 313-1677.) Mr. Wright was born Aug. 9, 1925, in Braddyville, Page County, Iowa. Harry grew up in central Kansas City and has lived almost his entire life in the metropolitan area. He served in the Army during the closing days of World War II, working as a telephone linesman under enemy fire on the Pacific front. He attended the University of Chicago for three years, then went to work for the A&P company in Kansas City, staying with them for 30 years and rising to become their Manager of Advertising for the Midwest. When A&P closed their Midwest offices, he joined ADP doing payroll delivery and stayed with them for over a decade before retiring. Harry was an avid life-long bowler with several perfect games to his credit, and he continued bowling for pleasure in the senior leagues into his 80's. Harry was preceded in death by his wife, Imogene. He is survived by his sister, Eileen James of Kansas City, his two sons by his first marriage, Stephen Wright of Bothell, Wash., and Robert Wright of Alton Bay, Hampshire, and his two stepsons by his marriage to Imogene, Rick Hunter and Denny Hunter of Kansas City, as well as nine grandchildren and a number of nephews and nieces. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Brookdale Hospice program.
