STRAUME, LIDIJA Mrs. Lidija Straume, of Grand Rapids, passed on her her 90th birthday while surrounded by her family on June 26, 2014. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ringolds Straume and by her siblings, Karlis, Elza, Anna, Berta and Marta. Lidija is survived by her children, Brigita (Allen) Darzniek, Ingrida Straume, Eriks (Cindie) Straume; grandchildren, John (Julie) Darzniek, Peter (Ann) Darzniek of Grosse Ile, MI, and Kristine (Christopher) Waide; great-grandchildren, Allison Darzniek, Tyler and Konrad Waide; sister-in-law, Dzidra Straume of Ropazi, Latvia; many other loving relatives in Latvia and Australia. The family will receive visitors from 1-3 PM on Wednesday, July 2 at the Zaagman Memorial Chapel. Rev. Ilze Larsen officiating. The family will have a private memorial service at a later time and Lidija's ashes will then be transported to Latvia for burial with her other family members. Lidija's family would like to thank Spectrum Health Hospice for the loving care they provided to her during the last few weeks. Memorial donations may be made to Spectrum Health Hospice.
