TAYLOR, Mo. -- Charles M. Gottman, 76, of Taylor, died Friday (June 27, 2014) in Maple Lawn Nursing Home, Palmyra.
Charles was born Oct. 27, 1937, in Hannibal, a son of John and Olivia "Sis" Hirner Gottman. He married Irene L. Uglum on March 4, 1961. She died May 7, 2013. Mr. Gottman was a graduate of Moline (Ill.) High School. He was a lifelong Marion County farmer, dairyman and cattleman. Charles was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Palmyra. Survivors include his sons, Rick (Susan) Gottman of Palmyra and Kevin (Dr. Gayle) Gottman of Quincy, Ill.; his stepchildren, Mrs. Betty (Paul) White of Palmyra, Mrs. Gloria (Dean) Drebes of Palmyra, Don (Kay) Daniel of Phoenix and twins, John (Denise) Daniel of Liberty, Mo., and Jim (Cecelia) Daniel of Cincinnati; a brother, Morris "Joe" (Jean) Gottman, of Taylor; eight grandchildren, Laura (Travis) Batzel and Nathan, Kristian, Kalen, Schelleen, Isaac, Emma and Eric Gottman; four great-grandchildren; 21 stepgrandchildren; 46 stepgreat-grandchildren; 11 stepgreat-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. SERVICES: 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 2, in the Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel, Palmyra, with the Rev. David Johnson conducting. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Palmyra. Casket Bearers will be Laura Batzel, Nathan Gottman, Kristian Gottman, Kalen Gottman, Schelleen Gottman, Isaac Gottman, Emma Gottman and Eric Gottman. VISITATION: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 1, in the funeral home with a family-led Devotional Service at 8 p.m. MEMORIALS: Zion Lutheran Church. ARRANGEMENTS: Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel.
