Brent Dellis Barber, 74, of Plano, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Brent was born July 4, 1939, to Dellis and Isabell Barber. He attended school in Rexburg and graduated from Madison High School. During his school days he excelled in softball, football and boxing.
He married his high school sweetheart, Sharon H. Mortensen, on March 14, 1958, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. To this union were born four beautiful children, Buck, Todd, Melanie and Madeline.
They made their home in Idaho Falls, where he joined the National Guard Army. They were later divorced after 20 years of marriage, and have always remained friends.
He worked for H&K, Peterson's Furniture, and White Star Laundry. In 1972 he began his 25 year career as a fire fighter, lieutenant/driver for the City of Idaho Falls. He retired from his firefighting career in 1997. After retiring, he spent his days in the woods and on the fishing banks, enjoying life.
Brent was a member of the LDS church, ordained as an Elder and held various callings.
He was an avid outdoorsman. His passions were fishing, hunting and archery. He always shot the biggest game and caught the biggest fish. He won many awards in archery shoots. He enjoyed his birds, which he fed and cared for daily at his home. Brent's pride and joy was his family. He loved spending time with them. He enjoyed teaching his children and grandchildren how to hunt and fish and respect the great outdoors.

To the Barber family, I as so sorry to hear of Brent's passing. He was a classmate of mine for many years, always with a smile and, from his recent photo, hasn't changed very much over time. He will be missed by all of us at Madison High, class of 1957. A special message to Maralyn, I've thought of you so often, and wanted to thank you for your kind words when I lost someone dear. My thoughts and prayers are with you now, may you be comforted now in the loss of your sweet brother. LeVonne Garner Moore
