Donna M. Platz, age 57, of Edinboro, died Saturday, July 5, 2014, as a result of a motor vehicle accident.
She was born November 28, 1956 in Erie, a daughter of Anne (Gabel) Lohrer of Fairview and the late George Lohrer.
Donna graduated from Fairview High School in 1974. She had worked for Spectrum Control for a period of time, before she and her husband owned and operated at dairy farm from 1982 to 1994, where she was active in the daily chores, as well as bookkeeping. She worked for Frank's Farm Market in Fairview, and most recently were employed at Wegman's in the bakery.
She attended McLane Church in Edinboro and always enjoyed her exercise group in Franklin Twp. She also enjoyed flower gardening, riding bikes and kayaking in Presque Isle Park, walking trails, vacationing in Canada and most of all being a loving and kind Grandma.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Patrick O. Platz, whom she married October 18, 1975 in Fairview, also a son, Joseph C. Platz (Emily) of Erie; brothers, George Lohrer (Michelle) of Fairview, Samuel Lohrer (Lori) of Cincinnati, Ohio; brother in law, Michael Platz (Debbie) of Girard, and her special grandchild, Peyton E. Platz. Also several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Tuesday from 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Edder Funeral Home, Inc., 309 Main St. East, Girard. Services will be held there on Wednesday at 10 a.m.
Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, 2115 W. 38th St., Erie, PA 16508, or, to La Leche League of Erie, c/o Emily Platz, 1250 W. 32nd St., Erie, PA 16502. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery.

It was an incredible honor to have known Donna as I did. She was such a phenomenal Godly woman, who knew her place in this world. A woman of joy, humility, friendship, and faith. So very sad to hear of Donna's passing. My husband Tim & I worked with Joe Platz years ago at GTE and had some great times with Pat & Donna at some of Joe's picnics & dances we all went to. We were shocked and very saddened to learn about Donna's accident. For many years Donna has been a supporter of the Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Department. She handled the social hall bookings for many years, participated in the exercise program and helped with pies for the Albion Fair. I was shocked and saddened to hear of Donna's passing. I was a good friend of her Mom and Dad, in fact her Mom was in my wedding. Donna was a beautiful little girl the last I saw her, many years ago. She was still a beautiful woman. My sympathy to the entire family.
